Aw: Why Is Daniel Gordon Still Not Playing?

Beitragvon donald » Sonntag 21. August 2011, 19:35

Gordon is a defensive midfielder like Cinaz & Stark who are playing at the moment and doing a good job so far.
Hence there is no reason for the coach to change the team.
That’s all.

Daniel Gordon Story On Jamaica Football Federation Web Site

Beitragvon sasquatch » Sonntag 2. Oktober 2011, 00:36

Jamaica Football Federation / Fussball Bund

http://www.jamaicafootballfederation.co ... can-dream/

This story on Daniel Gordon appeared on the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) web site on 28 September. Daniel's father was born in Jamaica.

I was hoping Daniel would get a trial with "The Reggae Boyz" for a friendly match at Honduras on 11 October. Unfortunately, Daniel's name was not JFF's list of selections announced the afternoon of 1 October. Jamaican team manager Theodore Whitmore is taking a look at several players who play in Europe, mostly in England, Sweden, and Norway.

On a personal note, I have been following The Reggae Boyz for many years. I have been to Jamaica, including the golf courses, many times. If anyone on FSV Forum is thinking about a trip to Jamaica, feel free to ask me.

I am a fan of "The Reggae Boyz".

Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore, Jamaica head coach, has been angry with the complacent attitude of his players. Jamaica has lost three straight friendly matches (0-1 at China) (2-5 at Ecuador) and 0-2 at Colombia.) In those three games, the Jamaican midfield was a mess. They made too many wild passes, kicking the ball back to the other team.

Whitmore has said he will bring in more European-based players for a trial. He also said that every position on the team except goalkeeper (Donovan Ricketts, LA Galaxy USA) is open for competition.

In my opinion, Daniel, when his ankle returns to 100 percent, is exactly what the Jamaican midfield needs: a defensive specialist who plays with discipline, who makes smart decisions with the ball. His role would be simply to stop the other player, make a safe pass to someone who is open, and go forward only as a target for corner kicks and free kicks served into the box.

Tonight, Jamaica plays a friendly match at Honduras.

For the 2014 World Cup, CONCACAF gets 3.5 spots. Two of those spots will probably go to USA and Mexico. Jamaica would be one of about eight countries competing for the other 1.5 spots.
3.0 goes to the World Cup, and 3.5 goes to a playoff against a South American team.

Of the list posted above, Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea) appears to be the biggest prize. England wants him, too.

UPDATE: Honduras 2-1 Jamaica (1-1 half) Jamaica's defense was terrible.

Daniel Gordon, Get Well Soon.. A Yellow Shirt May Come

Beitragvon sasquatch » Mittwoch 29. Februar 2012, 19:06

Last night, despite horrible defense all night long , Jamaica beat New Zealand 3-2 in Christchurch, New Zealand. New Zealand's second goal, in the 89th minute, was scored on a corner kick WITH NO DEFENDER ON THE FAR POST.

Jamaica was using mostly players who play for Jamaican, USA, or Canadian clubs. There is an abundance of Jamaican talent who plays in Europe, most in England and Scotland. However, those players are midfielders and forwards. Daniel is one of a few who are defenders.

The next game is 21 March at home against Costa Rica. Assuming USA and Mexico get two of the 3.5 places in the World Cup,
Costa Rica and Jamaica will be competing with Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Panama for the other 1.5 places.

Daniel's father was born in Jamaica.

It is not. I wrote it myself. I write in English, not German. Thank God for the translator package. I became aware of Daniel two years from a friend from another website who is a season ticket holder for Rotweiss Oberhausen.

In September 2011, a story on Daniel appeared on the Jamaica Football Federation website:
http://www.jamaicafootballfederation.co ... can-dream/

Also, somewhere on here, I posted a story from one of the two daily newspapers in Jamaica where Daniel was among a list of players in Europe who could play for Jamaica, but have not recieved a trial from The Reggae Boyz. In my opinion, defenders are the weakest part of the Jamaican team.
