Off to Stuttgart on Saturday
Matchday 9: SV Stuttgarter Kickers
Thanks to last Saturday’s 3:1 home win against Eintracht Trier, FSV Frankfurt are now unbeaten for six games in a row and currently occupy fourth place in the Regionalliga Südwest table. The Black & Blues will look to extend their unbeaten run next Saturday at Stuttgarter Kickers.
Stuttgarter Kickers are old acquaintances in the Southwest Regional Football League. After being relegated from the third division in 2016, the Kickers competed in the fourth division until their relegation in 2018. After several good Oberliga seasons, Stuttgart managed to return to the Regionalliga as Oberliga champions in the 2022/2023 season. Despite a very good last season, the Blues missed out on direct promotion to the third division on the final matchday with a 3-0 defeat at FC 08 Homburg. FSV drew goalless with the Kickers in the first leg, while the Bornheim side won 3:1 in the second leg. Stuttgarter Kickers are coached by Marco Wildersinn, who has been in charge since July 1, 2024.
Despite their bitter failure to gain promotion, the Swabians were able to bounce back and started the current season with a 2:1 home win against Eintracht Frankfurt II. Stuttgart currently occupy third place in the table with four wins, three draws and just one defeat, which only came in the last away game at Kickers Offenbach. The Black & Blues can boast the same statistics and are level on points directly behind the team from Degerloch. The spectators at the GAZi Stadium on the Waldau this Saturday will therefore definitely see a duel at eye level.
