FSV wants to extend its streak
Matchday 7: SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz
After FSV Frankfurt conceded a 1:1 equaliser in the last minute of injury time against Bahlinger SC on the last matchday and thus missed out on the lead in the table, the Bornheim team must now travel to SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz next Saturday and fight for the next points. It is clear that head coach Tim Görner’s team want to extend their unbeaten run and remain unbeaten for the fifth game in a row.
SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz were champions of the Hessenliga in the 2020/2021 season, but had to remain in the fifth division due to the coronavirus pandemic, as the season was cancelled, and have been represented in the Football Regionalliga-Südwest since the 2022/2023 season. Since then, the Föllscheelf have finished the respective seasons in the fourth division in mid-table.
The head coach of Barockstadt has been Daniyel Cimen for a few days, who recently moved to the East Hessians from league rivals FC Gießen. SGB were previously coached by 53-year-old Sedat Gören, who had been in charge since 2018. Fulda are unbeaten against FSV at their home stadium on Johannisau, but the last time they met, the team from Eastern Hesse suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat away at Bornheimer Hang.
The current season began relatively successfully for Barockstadt Fulda with three draws and a 2:1 home win against Astoria Walldorf. It was only on matchday five that SGB conceded a 1-0 defeat in the derby against TSV Steinbach Haiger. In the last clash at Kickers Offenbach, Fulda took a 1-0 lead into the break but ended up losing 2-1 at Bieberer Berg.
During the summer break, Görner’s upcoming opponents welcomed nine new signings and said goodbye to ten players. Among others, Dennis Owusu and Gal Grobelnik moved to league rivals SGV Freiberg, while Leon Petö left SGB to join FC 08 Homburg.
