FSV Frankfurt vs. Bahlinger SC 1:1

FSV Frankfurt welcomed Bahlinger SC this Saturday afternoon. Following their recent 3:2 away win at 1899 Hoffenheim U23, the Bornheim side were able to collect three points for the fourth time in a row with a win today and take the lead in the table on matchday 6.

Compared to the Hoffenheim game, Elias Breir was in today's starting eleven. FSV were ready to attack in the opening minutes and put the visitors from Kaiserstuhl under pressure early on. Among other things, the Black & Blues showed strong play in front of the penalty area, but the crosses into the Bahlingen penalty area were not precise enough and the Bahlingen team had no problems clearing them. However, the 1,017 spectators in the sunny PSD Bank Arena did not see any dangerous chances. BSC gradually got into the game and created the opportunity to take the lead in the 27th minute. Lukas Gottwalt cleared a cross with his head on the Frankfurt goal line, but the follow-up shot from Bahlingen striker As Ibrahima Diakite went wide of the goal. A few minutes later, Bornheim set up a fine counter-attack, but the chance to score at home ended with an inaccurate cross from Timo Hildmann. The BSC goalkeeper caught the ball with ease. In the 39th minute, Gottwalt went down after a tackle in the Bahlingen penalty area, referee Jason Lieser did not think twice and pointed to the penalty spot without hesitation. Cas Peters lined up the ball, but the striker did not shoot hard enough and the visitors' goalkeeper Benedikt Grawe prevented Bornheim from taking the lead. Shortly before the end of the first half, the visitors were awarded a free-kick. FSV goalkeeper Henry Bremer was too far in front of his box when Hasan Pepic took the shot, but fortunately noticed this in time and cleared the direct shot. The teams went into the 15-minute break with a goalless draw.

In the second half, Bornheim again played with an attacking mindset, but Bahlinger Sport-Club kept up with them and tackled more intensively. As the second half progressed, the Black & Blues became more aggressive and shortly before the 60th minute, Giorgio Del Vecchio found himself in front of the visitors' penalty area and shot at goal with a clear field of vision. Grawe parried the low shot and cleared for a corner. A few moments later, FSV received another corner kick, which found Lukas Gottwalt, who headed the ball into the net to give the South Hessians a 1:0 lead. Frankfurt held on to their narrow lead until the final stages, but head coach Dennis Bührer's team refused to give up and tried to equalize. The Black & Blue kept everything tight at the back and a long five minutes of stoppage time followed. In the last action, the red-clad team countered again and the ball finally landed with substitute Ali Ibrahim, who shot in front of the Bornheim penalty area and the ball deflected into the goal of Henry Bremer, who had no chance. After the equalizer, the Görner team tried to throw everything forward again, but referee Lieser blew the whistle after five minutes of stoppage time. Both teams drew 1:1 this afternoon. FSV Frankfurt missed out on their fourth win in a row and the lead in the table today.

The Black & Blues continue on Saturday, September 7, with an away match at Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. in the Johannisau municipal stadium.
