It's off to the Saarland: floodlit match in Homburg
Matchday 13: FC 08 Homburg
Ten league games in a row unbeaten, including five games won in a row. That is FSV Frankfurt’s remarkable run in this Regionalliga Südwest season. With eight wins, three draws and just one defeat, the Black & Blues are now top of the table. The Bornheim team will look to continue this run tomorrow, Friday, October 18, at FC 08 Homburg.
FC 08 Homburg has been a candidate for promotion to the third division for years. Since regaining promotion to the Regionalliga around six years ago, the Saarland club has finished in a single-digit position in the table every season, but has not yet managed to win the championship. FCH has been coached by head coach Danny Schwarz since 2023. FC 08 Homburg last lost 2-1 to FSV Frankfurt in 2022.
Homburg got off to a poor start in their opening match at Eintracht Trier. The FCH started the new regional league season with a 1:4 defeat at Trier’s Mosel Stadium, followed by three consecutive draws. With a 6-0 home win against FC 08 Villingen on matchday seven, the Saarland side broke the deadlock and went on a run of ten unbeaten league games before last Friday’s 5-1 defeat at Kickers Offenbach. Danny Schwarz’s team are currently sixth in the table.
