FSV Frankfurt welcomes Astoria Walldorf in a floodlit match
Matchday 16: FC-Astoria Walldorf
With last Saturday’s 3-0 away win at FC Gießen, FSV Frankfurt defended their lead in the Regionalliga Südwest and even extended it with the away defeat of second-placed Hoffenheim II. Tomorrow Friday evening, the Bornheim side will host FC-Astoria Walldorf at the PSD Bank Arena in the final home game of the first half of the season.
Astoria Walldorf is currently in its eleventh season in the Regionalliga and therefore has a decade-long history in the fourth division. FCA and FSV Frankfurt have been playing each other in the league without interruption since 2017. Fans of the Black & Blue team still have fond memories of the 6:2 home win two years ago. FC-Astoria have won the Baden State Cup three times to date and have participated in the DFB Cup as a result. The blue and whites have been coached by Matthias Born for ten years.
Walldorf started the new season with a 2:2 draw at TSG Hoffenheim U23, followed by two consecutive home wins. Over the course of the season, FCA played in the top half of the table as well as in the middle of the table. After 15 league games, Astoria Walldorf are eighth in the table and have collected 21 points so far.
