FSV Frankfurt welcomes promoted Eintracht Trier
Matchday 8: SV Eintracht Trier
After FSV Frankfurt were held to a 1-1 draw at SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz last Saturday, the Bornheim side now welcome promoted Eintracht Trier to the PSD Bank Arena a week later on Saturday. Head coach Tim Görner’s team have the opportunity to extend their current unbeaten run of five games in a row with a win or a draw on the upcoming matchday.
SV Eintracht Trier were last in the fourth tier in the 2022/2023 season, but were relegated to the fifth division at the end of the season. Eintracht became champions of the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar the following season and were thus promoted back to the Regionalliga Südwest. SVE last played against FSV in the 2022/2023 regional league season, when the two teams drew goalless in Frankfurt and the South Hessians won 1:0 at Trier’s Mosel Stadium.
The current season began for Trier under the leadership of head coach Thomas Klasen, who has been in office since 01.07.2023, with a clear 4:1 home win in the league opener against promotion favorites FC 08 Homburg and a 2:0 away win at FC 08 Villingen. But they have also lost their first league duels, such as the clear 0:5 defeat at FC-Astoria Walldorf and the recent 0:3 defeat against Offenbacher Kickers. Eintracht Trier currently occupy seventh place in the table with three wins, two draws and two defeats.
During the summer break, Görner’s upcoming opponents welcomed nine new signings and said goodbye to eleven players. Among others, goalkeeper Niklas Linke left Eintracht during the summer break and moved to FSV Frankfurt on the Bornheimer Hang.
