Second against third: FSV welcomes Kickers Offenbach for the main derby!
Matchday 19: Kickers Offenbach
FSV Frankfurt’s 2:1 away defeat at TSV Steinbach Haiger last Saturday meant that they failed to pick up any points at the start of the second half of the season. This was the first time the Bornheim side had lost two games in a row in this regional league season. Tomorrow Sunday afternoon, on the first day of Advent, the Black & Blues welcome Offenbacher Kickers to the Main derby. The second-placed team will be looking for revenge against the third-placed team.
OFC welcomed head coach Tim Görner’s team at the beginning of August on the second matchday and won 5:0 after an initially competitive first half. The decisive factor was the yellow card for Giorgio Del Vecchio in the 70th minute of the match. FSV were only 1-0 down at this point, but then conceded four more goals within eleven minutes. After the heavy defeat at Bieberer Berg, Bornheim recovered and embarked on a sensational run of 14 unbeaten league games in a row.
After a 2:2 draw at SC Freiburg II and a home win against Frankfurt, Offenbach only lost at 1.FSV Mainz 05 II on the ninth matchday, but have lived up to their role as favorites over the course of the current season. The reigning Hesse Cup winners advanced to the second round of the DFB Cup. After a 2:1 home win against second-division side Magdeburg, head coach Christian Neidhart’s team lost 2:0 to Karlsruher SC. The Kickers are unbeaten in the home table so far, while the Red & Whites have gone home three times without taking any points away from home.
