FSV welcomes FC 08 Homburg to the Bornheimer Hang
Matchday 30: FSV Frankfurt vs. FC 08 Homburg
After the 2:2 draw in the city duel against Eintracht Frankfurt U21, FSV Frankfurt’s next home game is against FC 08 Homburg in the PSD Bank Arena as part of the remaining regional league program. Promotion no longer plays a role for FSV, but they still want to bring this season to a sensible conclusion.
On matchday 13, the Black & Blues traveled to the Saarland and made a guest appearance at Homburg’s Waldstadion. Bornheim fell behind in the opening quarter of an hour, but equalized a good 15 minutes later through Gwangin Lee. Shortly after the break, Giorgio Del Vecchio gave the Hessians a 2:1 lead and Cas Peters made it 3:1 in the 77th minute. The Saarland side did not give up and reduced the deficit to 3:2 shortly afterwards. In the end, the result stood, with Görner’s team leading the table at the time.
Homburg FC were previously regarded as promotion candidates in the Regionalliga Südwest, but have not lived up to their role this season. On the first matchday, FCH suffered a bitter 1:4 away defeat at Eintracht Trier, followed by ten consecutive league games without defeat. Homburg only lost 5-1 at Kickers Offenbach on the twelfth matchday. Head coach Roland Seitz’s team, who has been in charge since January 2025, has built up another run of form and is currently unbeaten in six games in a row. Most recently, Homburg gained revenge in the last clash with Offenbacher Kickers with a 5:1 home win. The Green-Whites are in the semi-finals of the regional cup and will host third-division side 1.FC Saarbrücken at the beginning of May.
The home side will still be without Malik Memisevic, Jan-Erik Eichhorn and Maxim Emmerling tomorrow due to injury. The visitors will be missing Amar Suljic, Ian Werner, Jacon Collmann, Tom Kretzschmar and Michael Heilig, among others.
