Visiting the Black Forest: FSV plays away at relegated Villingen
Matchday 31: FC 08 Villingen vs. FSV Frankfurt
Following their clear and bitter 0-3 home defeat against FC 08 Homburg, FSV Frankfurt travel to the Black Forest today to face FC 08 Villingen.
On matchday 14, Bornheim welcomed the newly promoted team from Villingen to their home ground, the PSD Bank Arena. After just 20 minutes of play, FSV took the lead through Cas Peters. Fifteen minutes later, the Dutchman scored his second goal. Barely 60 seconds into the second half, Peters scored another goal for the Black and Blues. With a hat trick, the home team won and defended their first place in the table at the end of October.
Villinger FC entered the new Regionalliga Südwest season as Oberliga newcomers and state cup winners. On the first match day, the Black Forest team made their debut at SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz, where FCV took home a point. The Black and Whites struggled to pick up their first points during the current season. It was not until the sixth matchday that Villingen won 2-0 at home against Frankfurt Eintracht’s U21 team. Among other things, the Oberliga champions celebrated a 3-2 victory against promotion favorites Kickers Offenbach. FC 08 Villingen is currently at the bottom of the table and, since last week, is also the first team to be relegated from the Regionalliga Südwest. Despite this certainty, head coach Steffen Breinlinger’s team will give everything to make things as difficult as possible for FSV tonight.
