FSV wants to reach the final again in its own stadium
Hessen-Cup semi final: FSV Frankfurt vs. Wehen Wiesbaden
Following last Friday’s successful dress rehearsal at FC 08 Villingen, FSV Frankfurt welcomes third-division side Wehen Wiesbaden to its home ground this Tuesday evening for the semi-final of the Krombacher Hessen Cup. A home win will see the Bornheim-based club advance to the final, where they will face either TSV Steinbacher Haiger or KSV Hessen Kassel at their own stadium.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden started the new third division season with a 2-2 draw at SC Verl. After the fifth matchday, Wehen was in third place in the table and had made a good start to the season. In the course of this current season, the Wiesbaden team consolidated its position in mid-table, where it also spent the winter break. Currently, after 35 league games, the team led by head coach Nils Döring, who has been in office since June 2024, is in twelfth place in the table and is fighting to stay in the league at the end of the season. Only six points separate them from the first relegation spot. In the last three match days, SVW urgently needs to go on a points hunt again. All in all, the team from the state capital can no longer qualify for the DFB Cup via the league and can only do so by winning the Hessen Cup.
In the state cup, today’s guests of FSV started in the round of 16 against Hessenliga club SV Steinbach. After a 3-1 away win, they traveled again, this time to Bieberer Berg in Offenbach. Wiesbaden won easily against the Kickers, with a very clear 4-0 victory. Bornheim will host a clear favorite this evening, but as everyone knows, the cup has its own rules. The Black and Blues will definitely go into the game highly motivated after their 5-1 away win in Villingen and will give everything to reward themselves at the end of the season with the cup victory and thus with participation in the DFB Cup.
