Second against first: FSV welcomes Hoffenheim II for top clash
Matchday 22: TSG Hoffenheim II
After last Saturday’s hard-fought 1:1 draw at SGV Freiberg, things will not get any easier for the team from Bornheimer Hang. Tomorrow, the Black & Blues will host the current leaders of the Regionalliga Südwest: TSG 1899 Hoffenheim U23.
On matchday five, the South Hessians traveled to the Kraichgau, or more precisely, to the Dietmar Hopp Stadium. FSV fell behind in the opening minutes, but it took less than five minutes for Cas Peters to equalize with a penalty to make it 1:1. 15 minutes later, fellow striker Lucas Hermes gave the home side a 1-2 lead. In the second half, Hermes scored a brace to make it 3:1, followed shortly afterwards by Hoffenheim’s equalizer and later the final goal through Arian Llugiqi. The referee handed out a total of six yellow cards during Friday evening’s match. Two for the home team, four for the visitors. After a fiercely contested duel, FSV returned to Bornheim that night with a 3-2 away win and an early lead at the top of the table.
“Hoffe Zwo” started the new regional league season with a 2:2 draw against FC-Astoria Walldorf. After the home defeat against FSV Frankfurt, head coach Vincent Wagner’s team began an upward trend of ten unbeaten league games in a row. Despite the 0:1 away defeat at FC 08 Homburg, the team from Kraichgau did not get caught out and built up a new unbeaten streak. The autumn champions are still top of the table in the Regionalliga Südwest and have now been unbeaten for six games in a row. They will look to extend this run against FSV next Saturday.
