Regionalliga Südwest season 24/25

The Regionalliga Südwest will resume play in just a few days. In the coming season, we can look forward to two regional league debutants in the form of 1. Göppinger SV and FC 08 Villingen as part of the league rivalry and to a reunion with Eintracht Trier, FC Giessen and SC Freiburg II, who are returning from league three. Today, the Regionalliga Südwest published the fixture list for the 24/25 season.

The upcoming Regionalliga 24/25 season kicks off on the last weekend in July with an exclusive match in the evening: For the opening match on Friday, July 26, 2024, promoted SV Eintracht Trier will welcome FC 08 Homburg to the Mosel Stadium at 7 p.m. The following two days will see the remaining 16 games of the first matchday, although the exact kick-off times have not yet been determined but will be communicated here as soon as they are known.

For Bornheim, this special season – FSV Frankfurt is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year – begins and ends with a home game. But let’s start at the beginning: TSV Steinbach Haiger will visit the PSD Bank Arena on the first matchday of the season in a rematch of the previous Hesse Cup final. The first highlight of the season comes on the second matchday: The Black & Blues have to travel to the other side of the Main to play the derby against Offenbacher Kickers at Bieberer Berg. A week later, the soccer club will travel to Breisgau to face the U21s of league returnees Freiburger SC on matchday three.

There are three city derbies between FSV and SGE this season: For the first clash, FSV Frankfurt will welcome Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1st team to mark the club’s 125th anniversary. Kick-off for the anniversary match is on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 6 p.m. at the Bornheimer Hang stadium. On match day 12 (October 11 to 13, 2024), FSV will then host SGE’s U21s in the regional league at the same venue, with the return match taking place in April of next year.

Before the regional league city derby, head coach Tim Görner’s team will face promoted Trier on matchday eight. The soccer club will face the other three league newcomers, FC 08 Villingen, FC Giessen and 1. Göppinger SV, on three of the last four matchdays of the first and second half of the season. The first half of the season ends with the 17th matchday on the third weekend in November (November 15-17, 2024), while the 20th matchday on the weekend of December 6-8 also marks the last league matchday of the 2024 calendar year.

This will be followed by a winter break of just under three months before the ball starts rolling again in the regional league in the new year on the weekend of February 21-23. The Regionalliga Südwest fixture list only has one English week in the coming season (Matchday 27, April 1 and 2, 2025), so Bornheim do have an away game, albeit a very travel-friendly one with the second leg against 1.FSV Mainz 05 U21. The last away game of the season is just as travel-friendly, with FSV playing Astoria Walldorf on May 10, 2025 at 2 p.m. The last matchday of the 24/25 season is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025. FSV Frankfurt will then welcome 1 Göppinger SV, who have been promoted from the Baden-Württemberg Oberliga, to the PSD Bank Arena at 2 p.m. at the end of the season.
