FSV has to play away from home
Matchday 5: TSG Hoffenheim II
After FSV Frankfurt turned their game against SGV Freiberg around in the closing stages last Saturday and won 2:1, the Black & Blues must now travel to TSG Hoffenheim’s U23s next Friday to contest matchday five at the Dietmar Hopp Stadium.
The second team of 1899 Hoffenheim became champions of the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in the 2009/2010 season, were promoted to the then Regionalliga Süd and have played in the fourth division without interruption ever since. Since promotion, the team from Kraichgau has quickly established itself as a candidate for promotion to the third division and predominantly plays in the top half of the table.
The head coach of TSG’s second team is 38-year-old Vincent Wagner, who has been in charge since July 2022. His record against FSV is consistently positive, with Wagner and his team only conceding 1-0 shortly before the final whistle on the penultimate matchday of last season and missing out on the chance to win the championship and thus promotion to the third division with this final result.
The team from Kraichgau started the new season with a 2-2 draw at home against FC-Astoria Walldorf. With five points from three games, TSG’s U23s are eleventh in the table. It should also be mentioned that “Hoffe Zwo”, together with Offenbacher Kickers, have played one game less than the other teams in the Regionalliga Südwest. The reason for this is the postponement of the clash against Offenbach, as OFC took part in the first round of the DFB Cup last Monday.
During the summer break, the upcoming opponents of head coach Tim Görner’s team welcomed 18 newcomers and said goodbye to 15 players. One of the new signings was Ruben Reisig from league rivals SGV Freiberg. Ex-Bornheim player Andu Kelati, on the other hand, moved from Hoffenheim to Bundesliga promotion rivals Holstein Kiel.
