Hesse derby at Bornheimer Hang: The North Hessians are coming
Hesse derby: South Hesse vs. North Hesse
Following last Wednesday’s 0-3 defeat to Mainz 05’s U23 team, FSV Frankfurt faces another Hesse derby tomorrow, Sunday, against KSV Hessen Kassel at Bornheimer Hang.
In eleven encounters in the regional league, FSV has already emerged victorious seven times, including in the first half of the season, when Bornheim returned home with a narrow 1-0 away win at Kassel’s Auestadion on the eleventh match day. Lucas Hermes scored the goal shortly after the restart (47′). Since the game in Kassel, the table situation has also changed slightly. While the team from North Hesse is still in the relegation battle and has only moved up slightly after a 4-1 home win against Kickers Offenbach, things are not going well for the Black and Blues at the moment and they have slipped further down the table.
After a 0-3 defeat on the first match day, Hessen Kassel initially recovered and found itself repeatedly in the middle of the Regionalliga table during the first third of the season. However, since the tenth matchday, KSV has been increasingly involved in the relegation battle, from which the Lions have been steadily working their way out over the past few weeks. The team led by head coach René Klingbeil, who has been in office since November 2024, is currently in 13th place in the table, outside the relegation and relegation zone, which Kassel has not left since the ninth matchday.
On the FSV side, head coach Tim Görner will continue to be without Malik Memisevic, Jan-Erik Eichhorn, Maxim Emmerling, and Ahmed Azaouagh due to injury. Tomorrow’s visitors from North Hesse will also be without several players due to injury: Paul Stegemann (cruciate ligament rupture), Sercan Sararer (cruciate ligament rupture), Emmanuel Mirchev (cruciate ligament rupture), Lukas Rupp (muscle fiber rupture), and Yannick Stark (medial ligament rupture in the knee).
