City derby ends in a draw
FSV Frankfurt hosted Eintracht Frankfurt's U21 team at the Ahorn Camp Sportpark in Dreieich on Friday evening on the 29th matchday of the South-West Regional Football League. While dreams of promotion from Bornheim are gradually fading, the young Eagles from Riederwald are currently fighting to stay in the league.
FSV head coach Tim Görner made two changes from the previous match against KSV Hessen Kassel. Ben-Luca Fisher started from the beginning, Tobias Peitz was absent due to injury and Elias Breir due to illness. Leon Park, who had already made brief appearances in recent weeks, made his debut in the starting eleven on Friday evening. The home side pressed in the opening minutes and put the white-clad Bornheim side under pressure early on. FSV painstakingly created their first chances on goal, with Giorgio Del Vecchio narrowly missing the target from a free-kick in the seventh minute. The Black & Blue's defense was challenged in the first half and prevented an early goal through Lukas Gottwalt, who was in the right place in his own penalty area when Eintracht played a pass. In the 18th minute, Del Vecchio brought the ball into the Adler penalty area from a corner. The ball was cleared at the five, but the SGE cleared it at the last moment. In the closing stages of the first half, Paul Wünsch crossed into the FSV penalty area. Visiting captain Tim Weißmann tried to get the ball out, but Kaan Inanoglu was in the right place to head home. Shortly afterwards, the Bornheim team fired the ball forward to Lucas Hermes, who found himself alone in front of goalkeeper Nils Ramming and promptly equalized the score at 1:1. Eintracht “Zwo” struck back on the counter-attack and Inanoglu scored a brace to put the Black & Whites back in front. With the Görner team trailing 2-1, both teams went into the half-time break after two minutes of stoppage time.
After the break, FSV got into the game better, acted more courageously and scored a fantastic 2:2 equalizer in the 52nd minute through Tim Latteier, who shot on goal from the second row. The game was open again, but shortly after Latteier's goal, the home side attacked again down the right and ended up hitting the post through Marcel Wenig and then the crossbar with Inanoglu's header. The city duel became wilder in the course of the second half and the duels were correspondingly more heated. In the 65th minute, Cas Peters went down in the Eintracht penalty area, but referee Jason Lieser did not whistle for a penalty. Head coach Dennis Schmitt's team kept at it and pressed for the lead again. However, the visitors from Bornheimer Hang did not hide, but there were no major scoring chances and the Black & Blues tended to play the defensive part in this derby. In the 70th minute of the match, a dangerous counter-attack followed for the away team, but in the end the Görner eleven only managed to get a corner kick, which did not give them the lead. The Eagles attacked several times in the closing stages, including during the five minutes of stoppage time, but the ball just wouldn't go into Justin Ospelt's goal. Several shots were blocked by the FSV defense or even missed. Despite the home team dominating the final minutes, the 1,260 spectators at Ahorn Camp Sportpark saw no more goals. The referee blew the final whistle and both teams took a point each. A point that Bornheim can definitely live with.
FSV Frankfurt drew 2-2 with Eintracht U21 in the city derby. The Black & Blue thus take a point back to the Bornheimer Hang. Next week, on Saturday, April 19, FSV will host FC 08 Homburg at home in the PSD Bank Arena. Kick-off is at 2 pm.
